Social costs, by contrast, are largely unmeasurable and cannot be measured. For example, the harm caused by gambling to problem gamblers is not reflected in economic costs. Instead, the harm caused by problem gambling is social rather than personal. In the following paragraphs, we will look at some examples of the social costs of gambling. We will also look at ways to mitigate social costs.<\/p>\n

However, it is possible to change the behaviour by understanding why you gamble. There are many support organisations for those suffering from gambling problems. These organisations provide counselling and support for the problem gamblers as well as their family members.<\/p>\n
